My Vows
1/07/2021
I used to binge watch wedding videos on Youtube. All complete strangers. And I would cry through almost every video. Tell me I’m not the only one? Every time I would hear people reading the vows they wrote, I would think to myself, “I am never doing that. No thank you. Too much pressure. I would just cry the whole time reading them. I’ll stick to the vows you repeat after the pastor.” Well, Paul and I wrote our own vows. Ha! And I totally sobbed the whole time I read mine.
Today is our 4-year wedding anniversary! To celebrate, thought it would be fun to share my vows today.
I don’t think there is only one person in the world that you are compatible with. I don’t believe in “soulmates”. [As movies portray them.]
Successful relationships are a choice. I don’t expect it to be easy, but I chose you three and a half years ago and I vow to choose you every single day for the rest of our lives — when loving you is effortless, and when it is hard work.
I vow to choose selflessness over selfishness, trust over envy, and grace over resentment.
I vow to love you and all that you are — both your flaws and your strengths.
I vow to be the energy you need in the morning to take on another day, and to refrain from blasting music before you’ve had your morning coffee.
I vow to always support you in pursuing your passions and to remind you when it’s time to let yourself rest.
I vow to take the time to get know you all over again each year as lifes challenges change and transform you into a different person from the man I’m marrying today.
I vow to do the work it takes to love you as fiercely during our hard seasons as I do during our easy ones — if not more.
Finally, I vow to choose to stand by your side every day, through all of the adventures life throws our way. `
So, I’m curious, did you write your own vows??
I’m so thankful for you Paul and so blessed to get to keep choosing you! I love you, Happy Anniversary!
