Week 1 | Spring 2021 ORC | Boys Room
Hey! Maddie, here. I’m participating in the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge! We set a pretty ambitious (and maybe impossible?) goal to move into the house in June. We still have a TON of work to do to make it livable and we have zero expectations of the house being “done” when we move in because that’s for sure impossible. BUT, there is one room in the house that we decided we would like to have totally done when we move in and that is the boys room! Earlier this week, I saw that the Spring One Room Challenge was starting and I figured it was the perfect push I needed to knock out their room in the next 8 weeks!
Technically, we started this room back in August of 2020. We ran into a lot of issues throughout the entire house which lead to basically a complete gut job in the whole house. In this room, we have ripped up the old carpet, increased the size of the closet, took down all of the paster, ran all new electric, had new drywall put up, painted the whole room white, and sanded the majority of the floors down. We basically have a giant blank slate to work with which is great and now we’re ready for the really fun part!
Here’s everything we have left to do to finish this room:
When I look at my Pinterest board for their room, I’m clearly drawn to blues and greens that go up part of the wall with the upper section of wall white. So, I’m going to roll with that and add a wood wall treatment on the lower portion. The boys both love dinosaurs so I’ll be bringing that in through the decor which should be fun to figure out! Here’s what I’ve got mocked up so far and I’m feeling good about the direction we’re heading and can’t wait to get started!
Thanks for following along on this journey! I’ll be posting updates every Thursday for the duration of the challenge so I’ll see you again with hopefully some finished floors next week! 🙂
Be sure to check out some of the other participants plans here! There are so many talented designers to get inspired by!
I really like the wall treatment and colour you mocked up – this room has gone through quite the transformation already, good luck!
Thank you!! It sure has. I’m excited to see it all come together!
